Lions Mane is one of the elite tonic mushrooms that has been receiving a lot of attention in recent years as research surrounding brain plasticity and neurogenesis continue to stretch the limits of what our understanding of the brain has been in prior years. Lions Mane has been shown to stimulate nerve growth factor (reishi does as well) and many sing it’s praise for helping combat cognitive decline. Recently many have begun to call anti aging and boosting adaptability bio-hacking, having been in the industry since 1998 we appreciate the boost in awareness that others bring to long discovered treasures like natural nootropics like Lion's Mane, Ginseng, and Reishi.
Buddhist Monks have a long history of using what they referred to as “Yamabushitake” to improve memory and help increase focus. While research into Lions Mane is in its infancy; what we have seen emerging has been both encouraging and consistent with what users have been claiming for years. Thankfully Lions Mane has entered into the general public domain as something of promise that has been “newly discovered”.
This particular extraction from Dragon Herbs is a made with the most advanced extraction equipment available and both water and alcohol are used to extract out all of the delicate oils, Polysaccharides, hericenones, erinacines, polypeptides and fatty acids. Dragon Herbs Lion’s Main Drops is a potent extract of the highest quality Lion’s Mane mushroom fruiting bodies (not mycelium).
Some of the known ingredients in Lion's Mane Mushroom are the cyathane derivitives hericenones & erinacines which act as nerve growth factors (NGF). NGF is small protein that is used to grow and maintain certain neurons. NGF is important for the overall health of the central nervous system. The substances Lions Mane contain are believed to actually stimulate the production of NGF and easily cross the blood-brain barrier. It is believed that hericenones stimulate the brain to produce more NGF and erinacines are small enough to cross this barrier and work with the brain to foster the production of NGF, thus stimulating the production of new neurons.
As with holds with most tonics, Lions Mane should be used consistently and over a period of time. It is not a stimulate like caffeine that you notice 30 minutes later, Tonics are used day after day to impact the body with beneficial results. While you may notice benefit in a couple weeks we highly recommend people use a tonic for 90 days and then take a measurement of how the benefits have compounded before abandoning a path. Most Americans are notorious for approaching health with a Tylenol pill pop mentality that their sporadic and occasional use will fix their woes, Chinese herbs are an entire different modality that are used to act incrementally over long and extended periods of usage. Think of it as expecting a single mile run as fixing your obesity problem versus continual daily exercise to incrementally address your long time obesity.
